What began as a way to earn extra income while still spending quality time together after working their separate jobs has blossomed into a thriving small business offering a wide range of household and private care services.
Hannah's professional background as a household and estate employee, combined with her education in psychology and a graduate degree in social work, gave her a strong foundation in understanding what families need and how the industry operates in the DFW area. Alonso’s military background equipped him with the discipline and experience to work with people from all walks of life and under various working conditions—always prioritizing integrity and goal achievement. After his military service, Alonso built a reputation as a humble yet skilled jack-of-all-trades, quickly making a name for himself in the home services industry.
Their passion for advocating for families stems from personal experience. As members of the “sandwich generation,” Hannah and Alonso are navigating marriage, home ownership, becoming first-time parents, and caregiving for aging parents—all at once. They've personally felt the growing need for help in managing home life, family responsibilities, and the occasional moment of respite. They credit their success to the clients who have trusted them with their newborns, family homes, and summer estates—inviting them to be part of their own journey in building a supportive village. Hannah and Alonso are excited to watch their community continue to grow, year after year, while remaining committed to the same level of professionalism and compassion that started it all.
Hannah's Background
Hannah holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Mississippi College and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Texas at Arlington. She combines her academic background in mental health, family dynamics, and social policy with over a decade of hands-on professional caregiving experience. Much of that time was spent working with high-net-worth and high-profile families as a household employee.
Her roles have included caring for children, meal preparation and private chef services, prenatal and postpartum support for mothers, family organization and event planning, and eventually, managing entire estates—including overseeing staff to ensure the household operated seamlessly. Even after founding Varela Visits, Hannah continues to be the emergency contact for many families in the DFW area and maintains close relationships with clients she served long before launching her own business.
Hannah’s true passion lies in supporting the family system as a whole. She focuses on coordinating care, training and empowering employees, and consulting on strategies to enrich the lives of each family member.
She oversees the daily operations of Varela Visits alongside the scheduling manager and a dedicated virtual assistant. Hannah remains actively involved after each placement and serves as a consistent point of contact for both families and service providers—ensuring support throughout every visit, project, or long-term household arrangement.
Alonso's background
Alonso is a Marine Corps veteran, originally trained as a refrigeration technician. After his service, he worked for a water softening company and gained extensive professional experience in home remodeling, repairs, furniture and appliance assembly, moving assistance, demolition, IT support, and exercise equipment installation. He also worked as a plumber’s apprentice, gaining hands-on experience with copper and PVC piping, as well as small electrical wiring projects.
He went on to serve as a superintendent for a roofing company, where he prioritized safety, compliance, and quality control. Currently, Alonso works as a systems technician for a railroad technology company and is actively pursuing a career as a data analyst within their research and development team.
Despite his growing career in technology, Alonso has always embraced opportunities to take on side projects that align with his skills and interests—especially when it comes to helping families maintain and improve their homes and overall lifestyle. His versatile skill set and willingness to say “yes” to any challenge make him a valuable asset in both home services and personal care.
Beyond his technical abilities, Alonso is deeply appreciated by clients across both sides of the business. He is known for his integrity, compassion, and down-to-earth approach. He believes that everyone is doing the best they can with what they have—and that meeting people where they are is key to building strong, respectful relationships and creating lasting, positive impact in their homes and lives.
